We were lucky to spend one month exploring the Amalfi Coast and discovering its picture-perfect towns. Only a few places can match this destination’s beauty, and we want to unravel all the hidden gems.

One of the few villages set further from the sea, Ravello has one of the most amazing views over the Amalfi Coast.

This enchanting hilltop town is home to Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone, where terraced gardens offer panoramic vistas that have inspired poets, artists, and travelers for centuries.

With its peaceful atmosphere, winding streets, and cultural heritage, Ravello is a must-visit destination for those seeking the perfect blend of beauty and tranquility.

Vietri sul Mare

Vietri sul Mare is one of the best places to stay on the Amalfi Coast on a budget. It is only 10 minutes from Salerno, easily reached by plane or train.

Moreover, the village has one of the most extensive beaches on the Amalfi Coast. The vibrant seaside town is renowned for its stunning ceramics and colorful charm.

As the capital of Italian pottery, its streets are adorned with intricate tiles, and shops brim with handcrafted treasures. No wonder we always recommend it as the best place for souvenir shopping on the Amalfi Coast.

Atrani

Nestled between dramatic cliffs and the sparkling sea, Atrani is a hidden gem on the Amalfi Coast, celebrated for its untouched charm and intimate atmosphere.

As one of Italy’s smallest towns, it boasts narrow winding streets, a picturesque central square, and a rich history that feels like stepping back in time.

Atrani is ideally located within walking distance from Amalfi. Moreover, the two towns are linked by a tunnel carved into the mountain.

We discovered it by chance and fell in love with this small village’s authentic vibe. Unlike most other towns on the coast, here you can sit at the table with locals.

Cetara

Cetara stole our hearts and made us return on many occasions. Famous for its traditional anchovy-based colatura di alici sauce, Cetara is a paradise for food lovers seeking genuine Italian flavors.

Even though the village is small, it has a park right by the sea, making it the perfect destination for traveling with kids. We also loved having coffee and a local pastry at the beach cafe.

The village’s picturesque harbor, colorful houses, and tranquil beaches offer a serene escape from the busier coastal towns.

Salerno

Salerno

Salerno, a lively city at the southeastern edge of the Amalfi Coast, combines rich history with modern energy.

Known for its charming old town, bustling waterfront promenade, and the stunning Salerno Cathedral, it offers a perfect mix of culture and coastal beauty.

We loved Salerno for its vibe. It is a great escape from the crowds and a great way to experience a true Italian town, not just a place packed with tourists.

Sorrento

Sorrento is popular for good reason. It is a boutique city with narrow streets, colorful piazzas, and delicious food.

On top of that, Sorrento is the starting point for many day trips from the Amalfi Coast. Boats sail daily to beautiful Capri or Ischia.

Known for its fragrant lemon groves, vibrant piazzas, and sweeping sea views, Sorrento offers the perfect mix of relaxation and exploration.

Positano

We couldn’t leave Positano out of this list. That’s because this small, colorful village is the most charming and, of course, a popular one in the region.

Known for its iconic views, boutique-lined streets, and chic beach clubs, Positano exudes timeless glamour and charm.
